Paint Correction in Vancouver, WA & Portland, OR
Eliminate swirl marks, light scratches, oxidation, and water spots to restore your paint to a flawless, mirror-like finish.
What Is Paint Correction?
Paint correction is a professional process that uses machine polishing with varying grades of compounds and polishes to remove surface-level defects from your vehicle's clear coat. These defects include swirl marks (caused by improper washing), light scratches, water spots, bird dropping etching, and oxidation (fading/chalky paint).
The result is dramatically improved paint clarity and gloss. Paint that once looked dull, hazy, or swirled is restored to a deep, mirror-like finish — often better than it looked when the car was new.
What Paint Defects Can Be Corrected?
- Swirl marks from automatic car washes or improper hand washing
- Fine scratches and scuff marks in the clear coat
- Water spot etching from hard water deposits
- Bird dropping and bug acid etching
- Oxidation and faded/chalky paint
- Hologram marks from previous poor machine polishing
- Light buffer trails
One-Step vs. Two-Step Paint Correction
One-Step Polish ($500–$650)
A single-stage machine polish using a medium-cut compound followed by a fine polish. This approach corrects light to moderate defects and enhances gloss significantly. This is also included as part of our Deluxe package and is a prerequisite for ceramic coating.
Two-Step Polish ($700–$900)
A more aggressive two-stage approach: a heavy-cut compound removes deeper defects, followed by a fine finishing polish to eliminate any micro-marring left by the compound. This is recommended for vehicles with moderate to heavy paint defects, or those being prepared for ceramic coating to achieve maximum correction levels.
Paint Correction Before Ceramic Coating
If you're considering ceramic coating, paint correction is a critical first step. Ceramic coating locks in and amplifies whatever is on the paint surface — so any swirls or defects will be "sealed in" under the coating. By correcting the paint first, you ensure the coating preserves a flawless finish for years to come.
